Questions about the sims 3?

Who are the landgraabs? I've played sims since the first one I've always seen them on it? Are they the founders of sims? Of Sunset valley? Their like every where? Also another question I brought back the statue from France it's from the muesem and It was on the donation stand by the karate pole and stuff? anyways I just picked it up and put it in my girls pocket (DONT ASK) anyways when I go back home I put it on her drawer. Then it poof's out of no where?! Then i look for it and it's by the tv in the living room in a different position, the i click on it and it says kick so i thought it'd be funny so i did, when it flips over it was in another postition!
