Sims3 won't stop crashing!?

I got the Sims3 the year it came out and it was fine at first but now whenever I go to use it it will load up, get on the game, let me play for 5 seconds (not literally, but it's short), and then POOF! the sims is gone! I'm getting so mad! Any ideas on how to fix it and why it's happening?
