How to tame my poofy hair?

I have perfect, Natural wavy curls, but the problem is that my hair is an enormous poof ball. When I wash my hair it dries into nice wavy curls, but than it frizzes. I have tried different taming hair products, but they just ruin the curls, making them go away and looking all weird. What can i do to tame the poof but keep the curls? thank you
