I want to cut my hair short ans my hair is really curly... Help?

i have the same problem with my hair and cutting it Short would be a disaster it would poof and yes you would get an afro like thing sitting on your head. when you chemically straighten it can really harm it and your hair starts to look different after a while, like more fried so i wouldn't get it chemically straightened if i were you.
