FIFTIES STYLE DRESS HELP?

I was thinking for my seventh grade farewell dance and dinner ceremony thing (everyone wears semi formal or formal dress) that I could go for something a bit different. So I was thinking anything retro. I love those fifties halter dresses with a bit of poof, but really anything goes as long as it's cool. I also really like empire waist.
